Blush is an exploration into the emotions that cause one to blush. A mixed cast of ten performers, including Wim Vandekeybus himself, confronts extreme notions such as beauty and ugliness. Social rules are thrown to the winds; suppressed feelings and uncontrollable emotions explode on stage. Love is present in all its states – lust, temptation, exhilaration and shame. The performance shimmers with poetry, ecstasy and joy but also with sorrow, mourning and tears.

Film sequences by Wim Vandekeybus create a seamless border between two worlds. The Flemish author Peter Verhelst followed the creation process, structuring the texts by the dancers into soothing words, volatile metaphors and rich poetry. The Denver-based singer and songwriter David Eugene Edwards (Woven Hand & 16 Horsepower) composed the music. The sound of his banjo and his deep soul voice form the background to an avalanche of images.
Vandekeybus' work seems to push dancers and technology beyond their limits, in a total osmosis of live action, film and music. Blush seethes with energy, danger, emotion and sensuality.
